A New Support Desk And Coming Up This Week!

Posted on 8th February 2010

I just wanted to make this quick post to let you know I have upgraded my support desk today to Kayako eSupport which is a far more robust system than the free one I was previously using. But why am I telling you this? Well many of you who frequently use my support desk to contact either myself or a member of my customer support will have had to register an account to login and send a ticket, since I have changed the desk your login details will no longer be valid. But you don't need to worry about this because I have set the desk up so you don't HAVE to register if you want to contact me, simply head over to the support area and click on the 'Submit Ticket' link. I'd be more than happy to recieve a test ticket or two!

Was the upgrade really neccesary? It certainly was! I have a few new products I'm currently working on , that I know you are going to love, which I'm planning to release in the early part of this year and I always strive to provide the best customer support possible. The new support desk will enable me to control, manage and answer tickets away from my Read the rest of this entry »

Play Detective And Significantly Improve Your Rankings!

Posted on 4th February 2010

Playing DetectiveAs I discussed in the last post, gaining backlinks to your website is one of THE most important things you can do to improve your search engine rankings and if done correctly it can give you significant gains. Backlinking is no longer just about quantity, it's about the quality of the links you get. In a sense quantity of links still comes into it, of course you want to have as many links as possible BUT this should not be your intitial aim of the link building process.

The problem many people find with backlinks is that they often don't know where to get them from, certainly there are processes we can all follow like submitting articles, blog commenting, web 2.0 link building, cherry picking and the list goes on and on but if you don't target your link building efforts in the right places then you may be working a lot harder than you need to.

If I told you that I have a site which ranked number 35 in Google for my chosen two word phrase which I took to position number 2 within just over a week and a half would you belive me, well I hope you would but it sounds a little unlikely right? Before you get yourselves over excited I don't have some magic formula which I'm going to reveal to you, I don't have the answer to pummle the Google algorithm. What I do have though is good detective skills Read the rest of this entry »

Link Building – The Right Way & The Wrong Way!

Posted on 2nd February 2010

Link building, coupled with on page SEO, is one of THE most important aspects of website search engine ranking and as much as we all hate doing it we have no choice if we want our sites to rank well for our chosen keywords. I think the reason people hate building links to their sites is simply because it's a very tedious and slow process which doesn't usually have an immediate, overnight effect on their search engine rankings. But ultimately if link building is done the right way then it doesn't have to be as tedious as it first appears.

Link Building The Wrong Way!

There are right and wrong ways to build links to your site, probably the most common mistakes people make are the following:

Building links very quickly to a brand new website

If you have a brand new website which has just appeared on the internet then the last thing you should be doing is building hundreds of links to that website to get it ranked. Personally, I only ever build around 5-10 backlinks to a brand new site once I know it has been indexed in the search engines. Over the next few weeks I then build Read the rest of this entry »

Are Your ePN Links Working? Check Them!

Posted on 29th January 2010

ePN have recently made some big changes to their RSS feed links and this has resulted in broken cloaked/SEO friendly links to eBay. It's not really a shock that this issue hasn't been properly communicated throughout the eBay community or with third party developers. It just re-inforces my beleif that most big corporations have a VERY BIG issue with communication.

Anyway, rant aside, make sure you check your ePN cloaked links on ALL of your sites. At the moment it's only my BANS sites which are having issues and so I have turned cloaked links OFF, my phpBay sites seem to be okay and I'm sure Wade will be onto the issue in any case.

A Couple Of Useful Plugins To Assist Your Wordpress Site Build

Posted on 27th January 2010

Today, I just wanted to give you the heads up on a couple of plugins I use to make my life a lot easier when putting together a brand new Wordpress website.

There are two problems/issues I always seem to face when putting together a new Wordpress affiliate website. For example, if you look at my Mallet Putters website you can see that there is a huge amount of content on that site which I added and scheduled during the site build of just a few hours. The first problem was that adding that amound of content using the 'Add New Post' method would literally take hours to do. The second problem is that when I am working through these large site builds I almost always end up adding posts where I meant to add pages or vice versa which can be a real nightmare when you realise 5 or more of the posts you added were meant to be pages.

There are a couple of fantastic plugins I use which have enabled me to overcome both of these issues. Read the rest of this entry »

Will You Invest In The Shoemoney System?

Posted on 25th January 2010

UPDATE: After spending some time going through the Shoemoney System Sales page AND seeing the monthly price I will NOT be investing - Links removed!

I would imagine 99% of you have heard of Shoemoney.com and Jeremy Shoemaker. If you haven't already heard he will be releasing his new Shoemoney System to the world tomorrow around 2pm.

Shoemoney's story really is one of rags to riches and he went from being overweight and unemployed to building and running a successful multi million dollar business. But don't let that influence your decision on whether you invest in the Shoemoney system or not, I'll tell you now that this system won't make you rich over night. In fact as far as I am aware there isn't any system out there which will make you rich overnight, if there is then the creator won't be sharing it any time soon I can tell you that now. Generating Article Ideas – The ‘RIGHT’ phrase!

Posted on 19th January 2010

In the last post you'll remember that I spoke about using the FREE keyword tools available to you, such as Wordtracker, Keyword Discovery and the Google Keyword Tool to find article ideas for your niche website. In this post I just want to briefly touch on the main things to consider before pursuing one of these phrases.

Before you go after any keyword or phrase you are going to want to ask yourself a couple of questions before you spend the time trying to get your site to rank well for it:

  1. What are the searchers intentions?
  2. How will you 'monetize/convert' a visitor to a sale?
  3. How well can you rank for your chosen phrase and is it worth it?

What are the searchers intentions?

This is probably the most important out of all factors to consider. If the person searching types a phrase which demonstrates no commerical intent whatsoever then there is going to be very little point in targeting it. By using our 'query' keywords and 'buying' keywords in the last post to search for a target phrase we should have been able to identify potential phrases which do offer some degree of commercial intent. Taking the phrase "how to buy a hybrid golf club" as an example, this phrase recieves around 20-30 daily searches, depending on which tool you use, which is a pretty decent volume Read the rest of this entry »

Generating Article Ideas For Your Niche Website!

As we all know content is king, there is no denying that adding fresh, relevant content to your website will help with your rankings in the search engines providing it is done correctly. But one thing which people often struggle with is what content topics to use on their website, I know this is something I used to struggle with when I first started out online. But it doesn't have to be as hard as you think.

There are essentailly two things you need your content to have and they are:

  1. Relevance to your reader and to the theme of your niche website
  2. A demand for that content in the organic searches

This sort of content isn't at all hard to create and can be even easier to rank well for providing you know where to look for the right keyword phrases. Two excellent tools I love to use to find article ideas for my website are the FREE Wordtracker keyword tool and the FREE Keyword Discovery tool. Both of these tools generate some great long tail keyword phrases which can give you some great ideas for articles, better still because the phrases are longtail and very specific they are often very easy to rank for. Backlinks For SEO – Quality Rather Than Quantity!

Posted on 11th January 2010

Ultimately if you want traffic from the search engines you MUST get your website listed within the first 20 listings for your chosen keyword phrase, to do this you simply cannot get away from the fact you are going to have to get backlinks to your website. There was a time when building as many backlinks to your websites as humanly possible was the thing to do. If you were trying to rank above competitors in the search engines for a given keyword or phrase one of the factors you looked at was the number of backlinks that site had.  Now, whilst we still look at the number of backlinks a site has when trying to rank above it, amongst many other factors, the emphasis should be on quality rather than quantity. While this sounds obvious to many of you, you would be surprised the amount of people who are still concentrating on the quantity rather than quality. Read the rest of this entry »

Do You Read The Amazon Associates Newsletter?

Posted on 7th January 2010

Today I just wanted to publish a quick post to find out how many of you read or use the Amazon Associates newsletter which comes through to your inbox every so often? This is something which, until a few months ago I have ignored, but more recently I have started to take a little bit more notice of it. Generally the products they will send you information on will usually be up and coming releases which are either available for pre-order OR have JUST become available on the market. If Amazon are choosing to promote these products to their affiliates then the chances are that they WILL sell and usually sell well.
If the product is a new product on the market then it won't usually be over saturated with strong competition in the search engine rankings. With the right (product specific) longtail keyword phrase and some simple marketing it should be fairly Read the rest of this entry »

Well it's 2010 already, where does all of the time go? Happy new year to you all I hope you had a nice relaxing break and took some time off to be with friends and family. This is going to be my first full day back at work since the holidays, I have done some work over the festive period but I made sure I took most of it off to spend time with family and friends. In fact this will only be the 2nd Christmas I have had off in the last 11 years, for the other 9 of those years I worked Christmas day and/or Boxing day in my day job within the National Health Service and whilst I did enjoy it at the time it's made me appreciate the time I now get to spend with my family at Christmas. Additionally, the time away from the computer has left me feeling truely refreshed and full of motivation for 2010.
You will remember that back in 2009 I wrote a post about Setting yourself clear and specific goals for 2010 and listing these down on a peice of paper, remembering to only set goals which you know you have a chance of achieving. The question is have you done it? Read the rest of this entry »

2010 Is Looming, Let’s Make It A Good Year!

SettinYour Targets & Goals For 2010
At the end of 2008 I sat down and decided that by the end of 2009 I would have built up my online business enough to leave my full time job in the National Health Service. In October 2009 I achieved that goal and left my 'day job' to start running my online business on a full time basis. Being able to run my own business was always something I had wanted to do, having watched my grandfather and parents run a successful company themselves eversince I was a child. But it was only in 2008 that it became a realistic consideration for me, I had obtained the univiersity degree I wanted and spent 3 years in the 'real' world of work, deep down knowing it wasn't what I wanted.
When I set that goal in 2008 I was pretty confident I would achieve it by the end of 2009 and if I didn't achieve it by then I knew it wouldn't be too long afterwards. Now, that's not me being big headed or over confident, I never set goals I know I can't achieve and there is an important reason for that. If you set goals which are un-realistic and far out of your own reach then you have already failed before you've begun and this is not likely to do your self confidence much good in the long run. Equally, setting no goals at all will have you blindly working your way through your online ventures with no purpose and no targets to aim towards and this will ultimately be your downfall.
Set S.M.A.R.T Goals For 2010!
Whatever has happended this year 2010 is a new year, it's an opportunity to start a fresh and make it a whatever you want it to be. It's time to set yourself clearly defined achievable goals. Take a peice of paper and jot down a list of goals you want to have achieved by the end of next year and then pick out just 5 of those goals which are most important to you and, more importantly, most achievable. Once you've done that decide when you will have achieved it by. Of course your goals don't have to be just business related, you may also have personal goals you want to achieve, if you have then write those down as well.
The year 2010 has a chance to bring you whatever you want it to bring, so be organised, get focused and get ready to achieve your goals. I've started my list, have you?
