When you are listing a site for sale on Flippa, they allow you to list your website with tags to provide an alternative method for people to find your listing, just as we would when publishing a post in Wordpress. Tags are also an alternative method of buyer notification, buyers are able to request notifications by email every time a new listing is placed using that particular tag. I just wanted to make a quick interruption to the Fliptactics series today to let you know that I have implemented a few minor changes in the blog which you may or may not have seen over the last couple of days, which is why at times the blog theme has been doing some pretty funky things in the way of layout and formatting.

Deciding what's hot or in other words what's actually selling on Flippa.com is something you have to do before you go any further with your flip, this applies regardless of whether you are building to flip or are looking to flip a pre-built site. Flippa.com is a complete and total waste of time, it's a dumping ground full of poorly made affiliate websites with no content, no SEO, no traffic and no 'real' value whatsoever. If you don't know how to build, promote or monetize an affiliate website BUT you are a great graphics designer then Flippa needs you! Sell your sites for more than they are worth and take advantage of innocent buyers where possible!...

Okay okay, you've got me, so it's not a 'real' job opportunity but it's the type of HYPED UP CRAP that certain people will have you think if you believe everything you read on the internet. The concept behind flipping websites for cash isn't a complicated one and it's one which we have been dabbling in over the past few months and watching others doing to obvserve the best methods to use when flipping. Much to my annoyance I was subjected to a site hacker attack on two of my newer Commission Ritual websites today, I'm not 100% sure how long they had been hacked for since I haven't checked either of the sites since the beginning of last week. It looks to me like they carried out some kind of SQL injection attack. The fix was simple enough, just a case of navigating into my site via FTP and replacing the affected files but it still created around an extra 1 hours work due to the fact I then had to go through and change my usernames and passwords all over again. How annoying!!

I just wanted to make this quick post to let you know I have upgraded my support desk today to Kayako eSupport which is a far more robust system than the free one I was previously using. But why am I telling you this? Well many of you who frequently use my support desk to contact either myself or a member of my customer support will have had to register an account to login and send a ticket, since I have changed the desk your login details will no longer be valid. As I discussed in the last post, gaining backlinks to your website is one of THE most important things you can do to improve your search engine rankings and if done correctly it can give you significant gains. Backlinking is no longer just about quantity, it's about the quality of the links you get. In a sense quantity of links still comes into it, of course you want to have as many links as possible BUT this should not be your intitial aim of the link building process.

The problem many people find with backlinks is that they often don't know where to get them from, certainly there are processes we can all follow like submitting articles, blog commenting, web 2.0 link building, cherry picking and the list goes on and on but if you don't target your link building efforts in the right places then you may be working a lot harder than you need to.

If I told you that I have a site which ranked number 35 in Google for my chosen two word phrase which I took to position number 2 within just over a week and a half would you belive me, well I hope you would but it sounds a little unlikely right? Link building, coupled with on page SEO, is one of THE most important aspects of website search engine ranking and as much as we all hate doing it we have no choice if we want our sites to rank well for our chosen keywords. I think the reason people hate building links to their sites is simply because it's a very tedious and slow process which doesn't usually have an immediate, overnight effect on their search engine rankings. But ultimately if link building is done the right way then it doesn't have to be as tedious as it first appears.

Link Building The Wrong Way!

There are right and wrong ways to build links to your site, probably the most common mistakes people make are the following:

If you have a brand new website which has just appeared on the internet then the last thing you should be doing is building hundreds of links to that website to get it ranked. ePN have recently made some big changes to their RSS feed links and this has resulted in broken cloaked/SEO friendly links to eBay. It's not really a shock that this issue hasn't been properly communicated throughout the eBay community or with third party developers. It just re-inforces my beleif that most big corporations have a VERY BIG issue with communication.

Anyway, rant aside, make sure you check your ePN cloaked links on ALL of your sites. At the moment it's only my BANS sites which are having issues and so I have turned cloaked links OFF, my phpBay sites seem to be okay and I'm sure Wade will be onto the issue in any case.

Today, I just wanted to give you the heads up on a couple of plugins I use to make my life a lot easier when putting together a brand new Wordpress website.

There are two problems/issues I always seem to face when putting together a new Wordpress affiliate website. For example, if you look at my Mallet Putters website you can see that there is a huge amount of content on that site which I added and scheduled during the site build of just a few hours. The first problem was that adding that amound of content using the 'Add New Post' method would literally take hours to do. The second problem is that when I am working through these large site builds I almost always end up adding posts where I meant to add pages or vice versa which can be a real nightmare when you realise 5 or more of the posts you added were meant to be pages.

UPDATE: After spending some time going through the Shoemoney System Sales page AND seeing the monthly price I will NOT be investing - Links removed!

I would imagine 99% of you have heard of Shoemoney.com and Jeremy Shoemaker. If you haven't already heard he will be releasing his new Shoemoney System to the world tomorrow around 2pm.

Shoemoney's story really is one of rags to riches and he went from being overweight and unemployed to building and running a successful multi million dollar business. But don't let that influence your decision on whether you invest in the Shoemoney system or not, I'll tell you now that this system won't make you rich over night. In fact as far as I am aware there isn't any system out there which will make you rich overnight, if there is then the creator won't be sharing it any time soon I can tell you that now.
