EPN Was NOT The Cause Of My Problems

Published on 16th October 2008

Hi all I just wanted to quickly update you to the problem I was having with my epn account. Some of you may remember that last week I was locked out of my epn account, my email had infact been changed and my payment information email had been changed also. I finally found all this out when I managed to get back into my account the other day.

So what happened? Well I hold my hands up completely and have to say that the problem WAS NOT down to EPN, well not this time anyway. This was purely down to me and my computer. The email address that my account had been changed to was one that I didn't recognise and I honestly thought it had been setup by a hacker, since it was similar to my name but not exactly the same. But after contacting Mark at BANS support to ask his advice he suggested to me a cause to the problem and it turns out the cause has to be the most simplest thing ever. I ask you, how many of you use a program or FF to save your passwords to your computer or how many of you use a program in your browser to make it easier to automatically fill in forms? Well I do and that was where the problem arose from. Somewhere along the line I had visited my EPN account, I really don't know when, and my computer being the helpful thing it is changed my default email address and my payment email. I then logged out of my account and changes were saved and the account was unaccessible. Along with my default email being changed my payment email was changed also to an address I had recently used to send an email to a forum member.

Now don't ask me how this happened and I know it doesn't sound believable but the email address I didn't recognise finally became familiar to me as one I had set up with gmail over 6 months ago to handle my bookmarking emails.

So there you have it, for those of you experiencing problems getting into your epn account I have to ask how many of you are using these auto form filling functions and could that be the route cause of your problem?

Think it over.
Ben

Ben, I’m glad to hear you were able to pinpoint the problem. Though I can’t say the result makes me feel any better. Definitely something to think about.

I have to wonder how many this may have happened to who think they were dropped by EPN and did not receive an email. Maybe some of those people will see this.

    Hi Melissa

To be honest I am not convinced about anything with EPN any more, my stats for the last 3 days have been terrible, its as if EPN goes through spouts of no reporting and no commissions. I am still waiting to be paid for last months commissions as well.

I have applied to PJN but I’m still waiting to be accepted by eBay but then will it be any different!?
