Niche Affiliate Site Builder

Starting Your phpBay Site Build

Published on 22nd September 2008

Hi everyone. Its been a while now since I had the chance to post, I have been busy getting a few of my sites back up and running after a few internet problems as well as converting some of my non earning BANS sites over to phpbay and blogs, so its been a busy time.

Over the next week or so I am going to cover a start to finish guide on getting a phpbay site up and running from finding a niche to building the site and starting to get some traffic, I will be using a new site I am in the middle of building as an example, the site is BestPriceBeads.com. Many of you may have seen or read the start to finish tutorial on Eureka Diary but since the site which resulted from that tutorial was shut down I thought it would be nice for you to have one to see for yourself and to work from.

The set of tutorial posts will guide you towards setting up an ecommerce style phpbay site but if you are looking to set up more of a blog style phpbay site then Melissa Eaton has a tutorial series running at the moment which will show you how to do just that, see it here. During the step by step guide I will also be providing some versions of the template used to build BestPriceBeads.com in different colors with the unwanted parts already stripped out to make your life a little easier. The main parts of the tutorial will include the following:

1) Choosing a niche & doing some research

2) Registering your domain name, getting some hosting

3) Installing wordpress

4) Installing and configuring phpbay

5) Building an installing your new site template

6) Adding content and listings to your site

7) Getting some backlinks

The course of these posts may change slightly but this is the plan I have in my head at the moment so we will see how it pans out.

Ill start with the first post tomorrow.

hi. Installed wordpress and phpbay pro successfully but when I click on the items displayed I get the web host error page. BTW, I’m using a free web host, if that makes a difference. Also, not getting item images. What could I be wrong?

      @ Marv –

Thanks for visiting my blog, welcome!

It looks to me like you haven’t correctly configured your .htaccess settings, in order to have SEO URL’s and use the image re-write rule you need to insert the automatically generated code into your htaccess file. I think there is a tutorial for it at phpBay.com.

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Went through the tutorial you recommended but still the same result. Didn’t get any help from the phpbay forum either. Unless you or anyone have any suggestions, guess I’ll start from scratch and do a uninstall/reinstall of Wordpress/phpbay.

Hello Ben. Thanks for the prompt reply. Followed the tutorial you recommended to a “T” but still the same problem. If you or anyone else have any suggestions/solutions, I guess I’ll just uninstall/reinstall phpbay. Thanks for your help.
