I haven’t been around in a while and I must say I like the new look. You do have a point there that you should have your own DOTCOM. I would have liked to just get my last name but it snapped up a very long time ago. Its is not being used on a live site at the moment so I might try and by it from the person who owns it.

Good advice Ben. I was already too late for my name, so I put the year I was born at the end. I like my blog being under my name however. Keep up the good work.

That’s a shame you haven’t used it, i’m sure you could think of some use for it. Although I have a lot of domains lying around which I just don’t use….it’s amazing how many you accumulate.:)

Yes, that is an idea indeed, I think it will certainly be an investment for the future. On a similar note my brother has done something like this except its with a car registration, he has bought his 4 year old his initials in a private number plate for his first car. Strange I know but in 14 years time it may prove to be a good investment and it’s a nice gift.

This might sound extreme, but I ensured that our children’s names as domains were in my possession before they were born! Now I know they can own “theirname.com” for life.

I tried to get my own name as a DOTCOM but wasn’t able to get it using just my name so I added ASK to the front and managed to get it that way.

James Mann DOTCOM was purchased back in 2001 by a photographer. That was about the time I started my online business but didn’t think of it back then.

I bought it back in 2007 but never really got around to using.

That’s the problem with a more popular name, obviously it was quite similar with me as most extensions were taken.

I’ve often thought of getting the .me extension for my name but I haven’t ever really ever thought what I would do with it, so can I really justify adding another domain to the ever growing list? I’ll blame you Mark :D

I started the same time as you but I had already been working online in my spare time and run service sites for other affiliate marketing products, specifically BANS. I mainly wanted to look at the product creation aspect of JT’s program which has been really enlightening.

I couldn`t agree more however, my name is John Edwards, so as you can see compared to a certain senator in the USA, my google results don`t come near even using SEO as the organic results are far too vast !
