Generating Article Ideas – The ‘RIGHT’ phrase!

Posted on 19th January 2010

In the last post you'll remember that I spoke about using the FREE keyword tools available to you, such as Wordtracker, Keyword Discovery and the Google Keyword Tool to find article ideas for your niche website. In this post I just want to briefly touch on the main things to consider before pursuing one of these phrases.

Before you go after any keyword or phrase you are going to want to ask yourself a couple of questions before you spend the time trying to get your site to rank well for it:

  1. What are the searchers intentions?
  2. How will you 'monetize/convert' a visitor to a sale?
  3. How well can you rank for your chosen phrase and is it worth it?

What are the searchers intentions?

This is probably the most important out of all factors to consider. If the person searching types a phrase which demonstrates no commerical intent whatsoever then there is going to be very little point in targeting it. By using our 'query' keywords and 'buying' keywords in the last post to search for a target phrase we should have been able to identify potential phrases which do offer some degree of commercial intent. Taking the phrase "how to buy a hybrid golf club" as an example, this phrase recieves around 20-30 daily searches, depending on which tool you use, which is a pretty decent volume Read the rest of this entry »

As we all know content is king, there is no denying that adding fresh, relevant content to your website will help with your rankings in the search engines providing it is done correctly. But one thing which people often struggle with is what content topics to use on their website, I know this is something I used to struggle with when I first started out online. But it doesn't have to be as hard as you think.

There are essentailly two things you need your content to have and they are:

  1. Relevance to your reader and to the theme of your niche website
  2. A demand for that content in the organic searches

This sort of content isn't at all hard to create and can be even easier to rank well for providing you know where to look for the right keyword phrases. Two excellent tools I love to use to find article ideas for my website are the FREE Wordtracker keyword tool and the FREE Keyword Discovery tool. Both of these tools generate some great long tail keyword phrases which can give you some great ideas for articles, better still because the phrases are longtail and very specific they are often very easy to rank for. Do You Read The Amazon Associates Newsletter?

Today I just wanted to publish a quick post to find out how many of you read or use the Amazon Associates newsletter which comes through to your inbox every so often? This is something which, until a few months ago I have ignored, but more recently I have started to take a little bit more notice of it. Generally the products they will send you information on will usually be up and coming releases which are either available for pre-order OR have JUST become available on the market. If Amazon are choosing to promote these products to their affiliates then the chances are that they WILL sell and usually sell well.
If the product is a new product on the market then it won't usually be over saturated with strong competition in the search engine rankings. With the right (product specific) longtail keyword phrase and some simple marketing it should be fairly Read the rest of this entry »

markettrendRemembering to consider the market trends in a niche is one of the most important factors to take into account before you persue it and it will be a deciding factor in whether your website makes money or not.

When you decide to pursue any niche there are usually a few factors which should have played a part in helping you to make your decision. The following factors are most probably the ones which you were able to confirm:

  • Your niche has enough search demand in the search engines
  • Your niche is not too competitive in respect to competition
  • Your niche has enough products within it to promote and are selling well

But did you ask yourself if your niche products are selling all year round?

There are certain niche products which will have an obvious search trend, seasonal items such as Christmas decorations or Easter costumes are prime examples of these. But there are other niche products which have slightly more complex search trends which you absolutely must take into account before moving any further with that niche. Read the rest of this entry »

Google has been releasing a lot of tools over the last year which webmasters can take advantage of to boost traffic to their websites and the best thing about them is that they are free.

The Google SK Tool basically allows you to find specific keywords based upon what people are actually entering into the search engine search field. Why is this powerful? This is powerful because the results you are seeing are exactly what people are searching for and you can leverage these results to build very specifically targeted traffic to your niche affiliate website. I don'tWatchCount know if any of you have come across this tool yet but I found it a short while back and have been using it in conjunction with my BANS experiment, which is still ongoing, to determine product popularity during my site build.

What is Watch Count?

WhatchCount.com is basically a website which has been built from the eBay API primarily to show you the watch counts of the most popular items on eBay. Each eBay item which is currently for sale will have a watch count which, as the name suggests, is the number of people currently watching a particular item, this number can range from anywhere between 1 and a limitless number. Easily Complete SEO Analysis on Your Website for FREE!

For the last few weeks I have been playing around with a fairly new keyword tool called Traffic Travis, which was developed by Mark Ling at Affilorama.com . Initially I left the tool on my desktop and did nothing with it but then I decided to give it another go and have a mess around with some of the features and it's actually quite a powerful little tool. The best part is there is a completely FREE version which allows you to do loads of stuff.

For the FREE version the main interface of the tool is broken down into 5 main areas and these are as follows:

  • Keyword Tools
  • Search Engine Tools
  • PPC Analysis Tools
  • Page Analysis Tools
  • SEO Analysis Tools

Traffic Travis SEO Software

Now I personally don't use the keyword research tool of Traffic Travis but that is only down to preference, I have always used other tools like Micro Niche Finder and Keyword Elite. But I do love many of the other in-built tools, the Page Analysis Tool and the SEO Analysis Tools are two favorites of mine.

Finding Profitable Keywords & Niche Markets: Micro Niche Finder Review

Posted on 23rd February 2009

Finding the right keywords to use is often a task in itself and is something which I used to find quite difficult when I first started out on the internet. I have used many keyword tools, both free and paid for, and I can honestly say that Micro Niche Finder is probably one of the easiest to use tools I have come across. The fact that Micro Niche Finder is easy to use shouldn't put you off at all, I have found many high paying niches quite easily using it. What I found with Micro Niche Finder was that it has been a lot simpler to find niche areas which I could monetize and for me this tool is a must have.

Before I continue just take a look at some of the features of Micro Niche Finder:

Micro Niche Finder enables you to:

  • Uncover niche markets with low competition.
  • Find profitable affiliate programs related to the niche market you are searching within.
  • Find out the strength of competition (SOC) for a particular keyword phrase so that you can see at a glance whether or not it's worth even trying to monetize.
  • Generate keyword/keyphrase lists and sort by varying options such as 'Exact Search Count', 'Strength of Competition' and 'Online Commerical Intent to Buy'.
  • Easily manage, save, export and import searches, both current and past.
  • It has an automated brainstorming tool if you're stuck for ideas.
  • Has a broad digg and narrow digg feature to find keywords which may have even better profit potential.
  • Get Google trend information for a keyword phrase.
  • Find license free commercial and non commercial content for any keyword phrase which can be re written or used as a guide for your own website content.
  • Easily see the number of websites competing for a given keyword phrase.

The main thing that Micro Niche Finder enables you to do is quickly and easily find keywords and keyword phrases which have a low volume of competition and a decent or high volume of searches, making it quite easy to spot a niche area which you can go on to monetize. Over and above this there is another feature which allows you to immediately see whether or not a particular keyword or keyphrase is worth monetizing or not. Sometimes even if you see that a keyword/keyphrase has a small amount of competition and a large number of searches it may still not be possible to do well for that phrase because the strength of that small amount of competition is so high. Mirco Niche Finder enables you to automatically see the strength of competition which allows you to determine if that keyword phrase is worth using or not. This strength of competition is indicated within Micro Niche Finder in the form of a green, orange or red image - green meaning go ahead and use, orange meaning proceed with caution and red means there is too much competition to rank well enough in the search engines. The Strength of Competition score is generated from the inAnchor Count, intitle Count and inurl Count links from google.

There are also a few other great features inside the tool like being able to search e-zine articles, the Clickbank marketplace, Amazon marketplace and Google marketplace all from inside the tool. In addition you can search for commercial and non commercial unlicensed content related to the keyword phrase you are investigating along with a direct link to Google trends and the domaintools.com website. Once you have done your keyword investigation the tool will allow you to export the results in several formats to easily use and save on your computer for use or future reference.

Overall I rate the tool at a 9/10 basically because no tool is perfect and there is always room for improvement in the future. If you are stuck with which keyword tool to use, you have difficulty in finding niche markets or you are building a niche affiliate website then I recommend you check out James L Jones Micro Niche Finder tool videos from the links below:

Finding A Niche: Part 1

Posted on 28th September 2008

Due to the length of this post and the size of the subject I have decided to break it up into 2 or 3 posts to make it a little more manageable.

Today I am going to try and give an introduction into finding a niche for your niche affiliate website. This post isn't by any means the guru guide to finding a niche but I hope it will give you a good guide of where to start and how to find good niches along with some of the things not to do.

Some of the scripts we have access to today such as BANS, phpbay, storestacker, associate omatic, shopping.com etc etc are extremely powerful and relatively easy to set up, they allow pretty much any 'newbie' to get an 'out of the box' site up within a few minutes, but I believe its this ease that leads people to think that because setting up a site is so easy making money off it is too.
