Completing any keyword research often seems more difficult than it really has to be, I absolutely LOVE Micro Niche Finder simply because it makes life easier, you have so many options to choose from when it comes to filtering out results and examining the viability of keywords in more detail. But you really do need to learn to step out of the comfort zone of tools like MNF which effectively do all the work for you, whats more, you will find that by looking in places other than the results presented by keyword tools you will get more niche ideas, better keyword ideas and also a better understanding on the viability and structure of the niche you are looking to work in.
On a day to day basis you will see keywords floating in front of your face in many places across the web, but many of these "keyword goldmines" are often neglected as a place to find some excellent keyword and niche ideas.
To name a few, the following are just a handful of places you can look both before Read the rest of this entry »

In the last post you'll remember that I spoke about using the FREE keyword tools available to you, such as Wordtracker, Keyword Discovery and the Google Keyword Tool to find article ideas for your niche website. In this post I just want to briefly touch on the main things to consider before pursuing one of these phrases.
Before you go after any keyword or phrase you are going to want to ask yourself a couple of questions before you spend the time trying to get your site to rank well for it:
- What are the searchers intentions?
- How will you 'monetize/convert' a visitor to a sale?
- How well can you rank for your chosen phrase and is it worth it?
What are the searchers intentions?
This is probably the most important out of all factors to consider. If the person searching types a phrase which demonstrates no commerical intent whatsoever then there is going to be very little point in targeting it. By using our 'query' keywords and 'buying' keywords in the last post to search for a target phrase we should have been able to identify potential phrases which do offer some degree of commercial intent. Taking the phrase "how to buy a hybrid golf club" as an example, this phrase recieves around 20-30 daily searches, depending on which tool you use, which is a pretty decent volume Read the rest of this entry »

As we all know content is king, there is no denying that adding fresh, relevant content to your website will help with your rankings in the search engines providing it is done correctly. But one thing which people often struggle with is what content topics to use on their website, I know this is something I used to struggle with when I first started out online. But it doesn't have to be as hard as you think.
There are essentailly two things you need your content to have and they are:
- Relevance to your reader and to the theme of your niche website
- A demand for that content in the organic searches
This sort of content isn't at all hard to create and can be even easier to rank well for providing you know where to look for the right keyword phrases. Two excellent tools I love to use to find article ideas for my website are the FREE Wordtracker keyword tool and the FREE Keyword Discovery tool. Both of these tools generate some great long tail keyword phrases which can give you some great ideas for articles, better still because the phrases are longtail and very specific they are often very easy to rank for. How many of you are taking advantage of Google's relatively new Search Based Keyword tool, or SK Tool for short? Google has been releasing a lot of tools over the last year which webmasters can take advantage of to boost traffic to their websites and the best thing about them is that they are free.
The Google SK Tool basically allows you to find specific keywords based upon what people are actually entering into the search engine search field. Why is this powerful? This is powerful because the results you are seeing are exactly what people are searching for and you can leverage these results to build very specifically targeted traffic to your niche affiliate website. For the last few weeks I have been playing around with a fairly new keyword tool called Traffic Travis, which was developed by Mark Ling at Affilorama.com . Initially I left the tool on my desktop and did nothing with it but then I decided to give it another go and have a mess around with some of the features and it's actually quite a powerful little tool. The best part is there is a completely FREE version which allows you to do loads of stuff.
For the FREE version the main interface of the tool is broken down into 5 main areas and these are as follows:
- Keyword Tools
- Search Engine Tools
- PPC Analysis Tools
- Page Analysis Tools
- SEO Analysis Tools

Now I personally don't use the keyword research tool of Traffic Travis but that is only down to preference, I have always used other tools like Micro Niche Finder and Keyword Elite. But I do love many of the other in-built tools, the Page Analysis Tool and the SEO Analysis Tools are two favorites of mine.
