Today I'm taking the day off from work to celebrate my 27th birthday .... the big two seven ... now I'm starting to feel old :)! But not only that it's also the 2nd birthday of my blog. Just thinking about this whilst writing the post really makes me think about how quickly the last two years have gone and how much has changed in my life since then, especially in relation to the work aspect of my life.

Outsourcing content for your websites is a fantastic way of building your business in a much quicker and more efficient way, content outsourcing is something I've being doing for a while now and it makes my life so much easier. In fact when you are building BIG content rich websites in a niche you have very little knowledge about, it often becomes an alomost impossible challenge to complete all of the content yourself to a high standard.
The main place I use for my content is TextBroker.com, some of you may or may not have used them in the past yourselves. Is it just me or is anyone else getting to the point where they couldn't care less what eBay do or say, I have pretty much lost ALL respect for them, their company and their network. All we have seen since ePN took over the eBay affiliate program is changes, of course no one likes change and everyone expected some degree of change through the transition from CJ/PJN to ePN. But that was over 18 months ago and still we are seeing changes which require affiliates to jump through hoops left, right and center just to prevent your account from being expired, a threat which we seem to see a lot lately around ePN.
Why do eBay do this? They're a big company with power and they can!!
The next time you are sitting worrying about your account being expired remember this, affiliation is about a partnership between the affiliate and the network/merchant, it's a two way relationship in which both parties equally have the right to scrutinise one another. It's becoming increasingly clear to me that eBay don't want, need or care about their affiliates so why on earth are we continuing to pander to their every request AND send them traffic?

Okay so the eBay affiliate program, by my own admission, converts well on affiliate sites but that aside, what do ePN really give us?
Do we really want to continue partnering with eBay? Isn't it about time we EXPIRED THEM?! Don't forget to retweet and share with your friends!

Most of you have probably already read the blog post published by ePN but I just wanted to make you aware anyway in case you hadn't, as it's a VERY important change. In short the post basically says that if you are using 302 redirects instead of 301's within your affiliate links then you have just 4 weeks to fix it. Failure to fix it will demonstrate a direct breach of their terms and conditions and result in your account being terminated ... that part was very very clear indeed.
From June 8th 2010, we will treat this issue as an intentional breach of our terms and conditions and any affiliate exhibiting this behavior will be expired.
Wade Wells has already sent out an update for phpBay which involves some changes to just one particular file and more information can be found about that in the members forum.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Niche Site Platform is fully compliant with ePN's terms and conditions and will require NO changes or updates at the moment.
As I am sure you will already know, Google has begun using your website load speed and performance as one of the many ranking factors currently considered when placing your website in the SERPS.
According to a blog post by Matt Cutts we are told we shouldn't panic and that only a small amount of searches and search results will actually be affected by the change, in fact only around 1% of the search queries will change as a result. In the grand scheme of things though, 1% is a big portion when you consider the amount of searches which take place through Google on a month by month basis.
Probably not, but then that's just my opinion, I certainly don't think it's something you need to loose any sleep over but I do think it's something you should take into account when you are building your sites in the future, but even then it doesn't have to be a major Read the rest of this entry »

For a while now we've being getting a few emails asking about whether SEO/cloaked URLs for the affiliate links contained within the CompariPress PCU could be added to CompariPress PCU ... well the good new is we've just released an update for the plugin which enables you to cloak all of the outbound affiliate links within the PCUs you display in your WordPress pages or posts.
