Today I'm taking the day off from work to celebrate my 27th birthday .... the big two seven ... now I'm starting to feel old :)! But not only that it's also the 2nd birthday of my blog. Just thinking about this whilst writing the post really makes me think about how quickly the last two years have gone and how much has changed in my life since then, especially in relation to the work aspect of my life.

Just 12 months ago I was working hard to keep down a full time job as well as build up my business online, in fact this time last August I was working on a plan to enable me to leave work and take over the running of Affiliate Wizard. Since then I've been running and developing the business fairly successfully and enjoying more and more time for myself and my lovely partner, Kate. Time was something I didn't have much of back then, just reading a guest post which Kate wrote 18 months ago bought back a few memories. It just shows that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

So, as a way of spreading some of the birthday cheer and celebrating my 27th birthday, as well as the 2nd birthday of my blog, I would like to offer a SPECIAL LIMITED TIME OFFER of $27 OFF my two best selling products for 2 days only (48 hours)!

Simply enter coupon code "BIRTHDAY" into the coupon field during checkout.

Content Outsourcing Made Easy – TextBroker Plugin For WordPress

Posted on 2nd August 2010

TextBroker PluginOutsourcing content for your websites is a fantastic way of building your business in a much quicker and more efficient way, content outsourcing is something I've being doing for a while now and it makes my life so much easier. In fact when you are building BIG content rich websites in a niche you have very little knowledge about, it often becomes an alomost impossible challenge to complete all of the content yourself to a high standard.

The main place I use for my content is TextBroker.com, some of you may or may not have used them in the past yourselves. The thing I love about TextBroker is that I can submit an order to the community for one article or 30 articles and have the content back within a couple of days. But the one thing which I hated was having to login to TextBroker to manage my orders and copy the content across from TextBroker to WordPress, especially when my site contained 40 reviews or more. It was for this very reason I decided to develop a WordPress plugin which would make this process both quicker and easily, and so WP TextBroker was born.

Who Else Has Had Just About Enough of eBay?

Posted on 13th May 2010

Is it just me or is anyone else getting to the point where they couldn't care less what eBay do or say, I have pretty much lost ALL respect for them, their company and their network. All we have seen since ePN took over the eBay affiliate program is changes, of course no one likes change and everyone expected some degree of change through the transition from CJ/PJN to ePN. But that was over 18 months ago and still we are seeing changes which require affiliates to jump through hoops left, right and center just to prevent your account from being expired, a threat which we seem to see a lot lately around ePN.

Why do eBay do this? They're a big company with power and they can!!

The next time you are sitting worrying about your account being expired remember this, affiliation is about a partnership between the affiliate and the network/merchant, it's a two way relationship in which both parties equally have the right to scrutinise one another. It's becoming increasingly clear to me that eBay don't want, need or care about their affiliates so why on earth are we continuing to pander to their every request AND send them traffic?

Lets Look Closer:

Okay so the eBay affiliate program, by my own admission, converts well on affiliate sites but that aside, what do ePN really give us?

  • Regular changes to suit themselves causing us A LOT of extra and uneccessary work
  • Unclear and questionable reporting statistics
  • Regular threats of expirey
  • A lack of decent communication and clarity

Do we really want to continue partnering with eBay? Isn't it about time we EXPIRED THEM?! Don't forget to retweet and share with your friends!

Thoughts below please!

Turn 302s To 301s Or Face Termination

Posted on 11th May 2010
4 Comments

Most of you have probably already read the blog post published by ePN but I just wanted to make you aware anyway in case you hadn't, as it's a VERY important change. In short the post basically says that if you are using 302 redirects instead of 301's within your affiliate links then you have just 4 weeks to fix it. Failure to fix it will demonstrate a direct breach of their terms and conditions and result in your account being terminated ... that part was very very clear indeed.

From June 8th 2010, we will treat this issue as an intentional breach of our terms and conditions and any affiliate exhibiting this behavior will be expired.

Wade Wells has already sent out an update for phpBay which involves some changes to just one particular file and more information can be found about that in the members forum.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Niche Site Platform is fully compliant with ePN's terms and conditions and will require NO changes or updates at the moment.

Is Your Website Slowing You Down?

Posted on 12th April 2010

As I am sure you will already know, Google has begun using your website load speed and performance as one of the many ranking factors currently considered when placing your website in the SERPS.

How Will This Affect You?

According to a blog post by Matt Cutts we are told we shouldn't panic and that only a small amount of searches and search results will actually be affected by the change, in fact  only around 1% of the search queries will change as a result. In the grand scheme of things though, 1% is a big portion when you consider the amount of searches which take place through Google on a month by month basis.

Is This As Bigger Deal As It Sounds?

Probably not, but then that's just my opinion, I certainly don't think it's something you need to loose any sleep over but I do think it's something you should take into account when you are building your sites in the future, but even then it doesn't have to be a major Read the rest of this entry »

If you're going away with friends or family then have a fantastic time, if you're just staying at home and relaxing remember to take time away from the computer to be with the people you love and care about.

I will be taking a very well earned break myself so I may not be around until Tuesday, it's off out tonight with friends and then a couple of days away next week in the country somewhere, although I haven't decided where we are going yet myself and Kate are looking forward to spending the time away from home. Revised 06/05/10 - Melissa, for whatever reason, doesn't seem to be online at the moment and therefore not offering services!

A couple of months back I tried out a new tool for spinning articles called The Best Spinner and it really was one of the best article spinning tools I have ever used and I've tried and tested most of the popular ones. It allows you to easily take 1 article and spin it to produce several copies of that article, each with a certain percentage of uniqueness. If you don't own this software or don't have the time to use it then Melissa Eaton (long time BANS member and one of the first forum moderators) is offering several extremely cheap article spinning services which may interest you. She has several options on offer Read the rest of this entry »
