When I'm building a new website I usually tend to go for the larger websites rather than the smaller ones but just recently I've built a few smaller single product websites which have done very well indeed. Personally I just think it's a reminder to us all that you don't always have to spend a good chunk in time or money building big websites to get a good return.
As an example I would like to share a short story with you. Just a few weeks back I was visiting a friend of mine who is also into affiliate marketing, only as a hobby though, he had a few domains lying around for Niches that I hadn't even thought of. The niches were very very tightly focused, so tightly focused in fact that they were for single products. I did some basic keyword research using the Google Keyword Tool to try and determine whether or not there was actually any search demand for this particular Read the rest of this entry »

Is it just me or is anyone else getting to the point where they couldn't care less what eBay do or say, I have pretty much lost ALL respect for them, their company and their network. All we have seen since ePN took over the eBay affiliate program is changes, of course no one likes change and everyone expected some degree of change through the transition from CJ/PJN to ePN. But that was over 18 months ago and still we are seeing changes which require affiliates to jump through hoops left, right and center just to prevent your account from being expired, a threat which we seem to see a lot lately around ePN.
Why do eBay do this? They're a big company with power and they can!!
The next time you are sitting worrying about your account being expired remember this, affiliation is about a partnership between the affiliate and the network/merchant, it's a two way relationship in which both parties equally have the right to scrutinise one another. It's becoming increasingly clear to me that eBay don't want, need or care about their affiliates so why on earth are we continuing to pander to their every request AND send them traffic?
Lets Look Closer:
Okay so the eBay affiliate program, by my own admission, converts well on affiliate sites but that aside, what do ePN really give us?
- Regular changes to suit themselves causing us A LOT of extra and uneccessary work
- Unclear and questionable reporting statistics
- Regular threats of expirey
- A lack of decent communication and clarity
Do we really want to continue partnering with eBay? Isn't it about time we EXPIRED THEM?! Don't forget to retweet and share with your friends!
Thoughts below please!

Most of you have probably already read the blog post published by ePN but I just wanted to make you aware anyway in case you hadn't, as it's a VERY important change. In short the post basically says that if you are using 302 redirects instead of 301's within your affiliate links then you have just 4 weeks to fix it. Failure to fix it will demonstrate a direct breach of their terms and conditions and result in your account being terminated ... that part was very very clear indeed.
From June 8th 2010, we will treat this issue as an intentional breach of our terms and conditions and any affiliate exhibiting this behavior will be expired.
Wade Wells has already sent out an update for phpBay which involves some changes to just one particular file and more information can be found about that in the members forum.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Niche Site Platform is fully compliant with ePN's terms and conditions and will require NO changes or updates at the moment.

Over the last few months, since I started working full time online, I've begun to notice how disorganised I've been. In the past there was a good excuse for this, I had a 40 hour a week job to do as well as trying to turn my hobby into a full time business! Whilst this is an excuse of sorts and is as good any other it's still not good enough! So my question to you is ... how organised are you?
The good thing about being a part time Niche Site Builder is that you can get away with being disorganised, the time it starts to become a real problem is when you are relying on it for a full time income doing it as your job. In fact, when I looked at some of the areas I was very disorganised in a few months back it made me realise that I wouldn't have been able to work that way at my old job and that's why I don't work like it now.
There are many factors involved in building yourself a online portfolio/business in Niche Site Building, but one of THE MOST IMPORTANT factors you simply CANNOT do without is organisation and focus! Without both of these things, scaling up to any sort of level Read the rest of this entry »

After almost 6 months of hard work I am finally able to announce that I will be releasing my newest creation this week, Niche Site Platform, the Affiliate Site Building Platform. I wanted to wait to announce it until I had got passed the eBay Compatible Application check hurdle and my API call limit had been increased.
What Is Niche Site Platform?
The platform is an easy to use but powerful website building platform which will enable you to build an Affiliate Website with multiple Affiliate Networks pre-integrated into it. It not only supports some of the largest and best Affiliate Networks, providing you with tens of thousands of merchants to promote products from, it also provides you with MANY other premium features including Read the rest of this entry »

After recently releasing CompariPress and hopefully releasing Niche Site Platform next week, I want to try and make a few more blog posts, when I get chance, which will give you hints and tips on how to use my products or certain features in the best way possible. Sometimes the biggest user manual in the world doesn't make it 100% clear and I know how frustrating it can be to buy a product and get so fed up with it because you are not sure how to use it correctly.
From that premise, in this post I would like to talk a little bit about searching for products in your CompariPress PCU admin area. Read the rest of this entry »

I've got a website which I'm going to put onto Flippa.com after the weekend but I thought I would offer it out here first to see if anyone was interested in purchasing it from me. I origionally built the site as a demo site for my CompariPress plugin before I changed direction with the plugin's functionality.
Website Information
- Platform - WordPress
- Monetization - Currently uses phpBay Pro but has the potential to work well as a ReviewAZON or phpZon site (Please note that whilst I will leave the required phpBay code in place for you to use the site, I won't be transfering the plugin unless you have proof of ownership.
- Domain - Registered with GoDaddy until Nov 2010
- Hosting - Currently on my Reseller server and can be left in place free for 30 days to allow time to transfer Read the rest of this entry »

As I am sure you will already know, Google has begun using your website load speed and performance as one of the many ranking factors currently considered when placing your website in the SERPS.
How Will This Affect You?
According to a blog post by Matt Cutts we are told we shouldn't panic and that only a small amount of searches and search results will actually be affected by the change, in fact only around 1% of the search queries will change as a result. In the grand scheme of things though, 1% is a big portion when you consider the amount of searches which take place through Google on a month by month basis.
Is This As Bigger Deal As It Sounds?
Probably not, but then that's just my opinion, I certainly don't think it's something you need to loose any sleep over but I do think it's something you should take into account when you are building your sites in the future, but even then it doesn't have to be a major Read the rest of this entry »

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish those of you who celebrate it a very Happy Easter! If you're going away with friends or family then have a fantastic time, if you're just staying at home and relaxing remember to take time away from the computer to be with the people you love and care about.
I will be taking a very well earned break myself so I may not be around until Tuesday, it's off out tonight with friends and then a couple of days away next week in the country somewhere, although I haven't decided where we are going yet myself and Kate are looking forward to spending the time away from home. Revised 06/05/10 - Melissa, for whatever reason, doesn't seem to be online at the moment and therefore not offering services!
A couple of months back I tried out a new tool for spinning articles called The Best Spinner and it really was one of the best article spinning tools I have ever used and I've tried and tested most of the popular ones. It allows you to easily take 1 article and spin it to produce several copies of that article, each with a certain percentage of uniqueness. If you don't own this software or don't have the time to use it then Melissa Eaton (long time BANS member and one of the first forum moderators) is offering several extremely cheap article spinning services which may interest you. She has several options on offer Read the rest of this entry »
